Vegetables are low in fat and calories, and supply many important nutrients like dietary fiber, potassium and vitamins– making them a crucial part of a balanced plate. The United States Department of Agriculture recommends that adults eat at least 2 ½ cups per day.
Our vegetable seed division provides hundreds of varieties to farmers around the world – including broccoli, cucumber, tomato, pepper and spinach. Two of our vegetable seeds in the U.S. are genetically modified for specific benefits - squash, to resist certain viruses that can destroy the crop, and sweet corn, which enables farmers to more efficiently manage weeds and pesticide use.
Through breeding and modern techniques farmers have access to seed that can enable better harvests, which hopefully results in more people enjoying a diet rich in vegetable
